I have known Ray since childhood at Holy Cross Church when he was the church warden who warned us to stay ‘off the red carpet’ (it was then known as Ray’s carpet and we would test the limits trying to jump over it without touching it. He accompanied me on a trip to the isle of wight in year 6 where i had to call him ‘Mr Allen’ even though i was used to calling him Ray… but he got us good seats on the bottom of the coach. I then spent many years with Ray when doing panto as part of the ‘Holy Cross Players’. He would visit Greenford often. Most recently, in October 2023, he travelled down to attend my wedding which was very special. He will be greatly missed. RIP Ray. X
